Battery Energy Storage System
The Battery Energy Storage System stores energy from different sources which is then used when required.
The current electric grid is an inefficient system as it wastes a significant amount of the electricity that it produces because there is a disconnect between the amount of energy consumers require and the amount of energy produced from generation sources. Therefore, energy can be stored in a battery and that stored energy can be used whenever the need arises.
Amongst all renewable energy resources; energy harvesting from a solar photovoltaic system is the most effective and suitable. Today, there is a major challenge to store excess energy when the demand is low, and reuse this energy later when needed. This energy can be stored in a storage unit called a "Battery". This application is valuable for both voltage and frequency regulation and also serves as a backup supply during system faults or unavailability of renewable energy.
